BeatlesMall.com James Paul McCartney was born in Speke, Liverpool on June 18th 1942.He lived with his parents, Jim (a musician) and Mary and brother Michael (latterly Scaffold's Mike McGear). His father encouraged Paul to take music lessons, but in reality he was both a self-taught pianist and left-handed guitarist. With John, he formed the Quarrymen, later to be joined by George. After several name changes the group eventually became the Beatles in 1960. Paul along with John became one of the most prolific song writers the world has ever seen.
